Another member of the sunflower family, Rudbeckia is a much loved garden plant and many cultivars have been created out of this short-lived perennial. There are also many naturally occuring varieties of this species which are sometimes considered separate species so I am not 100% on this plant's identification. These individuals were growing in the dappled shade of a grove of post oaks (Quercus stellata) that had the underbrush cleared.
